May Craft Club

Next Craft Club is Tuesday 7th May at Atlantis Books from 5.30 to 7.30pm.

We'll be papercrafting and card making this month: Nicky will lead us in the art of iris folding, which is a simple way of using folded strips of paper but looks amazing! We've done it before and everyone's been thrilled with what they've made; so long as you can fold paper and do some basic counting, you'll be fine!

Here's some Nicky made earlier

Some of our previous Craft Club attempts - don't they look fab?

Bring along any paper you want to use - craft paper or sturdy gift wrap, which holds a fold, works well. We'll have supplies for those who need them, including card blanks, but craft mats, scissors and glue are always handy to have!

Please email lwewicraftclub@gmail.com if you plan to come, so we know to expect you; we can only fit 10 in, so need to know numbers in advance. Also email us for more information if you haven't come before and want to know more!

As ever tea, coffee and delicious biscuits will be served.

April Craft Club - What We Made

This month we made lots of little hats for Innocent smoothie bottles, which will all help raise money for Age UK as part of the Big Knit campaign.

Our more experienced members produced octopi, sheep and mugs, while the rest of us were excited to be taught to purl! Thanks to Jane and Jayne for being so patient with the beginners in the group!

Next month we're card-making, with a spot of iris folding. Details coming soon!

April Craft Club

Next Craft Club is Tuesday 2nd April at Atlantis Books from 5.30 to 7.30pm.

We'll be knitting dinky little hats for Innocent Smoothie bottles, as part of their Big Knit campaign for Age UK - we send the hats off to them, and they'll appear in shops in early winter raising funds for charity. We've got some patterns, and you'll find loads of inspiration on the Big Knit website too; personally I'm thinking of trying the fez!

We've done this before: here's some of our previous attempts, from the simple beanie to the complicated octopus...

Bring along wool (double knitting for preference) and knitting needles. We'll have supplies for those who need them, including pom-pom makers for those who prefer not to knit. And if you don't know or remember how to knit, fear not - our experienced knitters will be happy to help you sort your cast on from your knit stitch from your purl!

Please email lwewicraftclub@gmail.com if you plan to come, so we know to expect you; we can only fit 10 in, so need to know numbers in advance. Also email us for more information if you haven't come before and want to know more!

As ever tea, coffee and delicious biscuits will be served.

February Craft Club - What We Made

February's craft club was awash with paper crafting - Jayne led us in making some fabulous woven paper hearts, just in time for Valentine's day; we'll also use some of the green ones for the WI's #sharethelove climate change campaign.

As well as the hearts, the pyramid gift boxes look fabulously professional, and only involve one piece of card, some cutting and folding, and a ribbon - no glue at all! We'll be using these to hold our hand-made earrings when we give them as gifts.

And in a lovely end to the meeting, we finally met little Aurora, the newest member of the Atlantis Bookshop family 💕

Craft club is back on the 5th of March, when we'll be hand-sewing drawstring bags for the Red Box Project (following on from similar crafts at our main monthly meeting in February)

February Craft Club

Next Craft Club is Tuesday 5th February at Atlantis Books from 5.30 to 7.40pm.

We'll be making gift bags and boxes out of old wrapping paper and cardboard, and also these fab woven hearts, just in time for Valentines. These are traditional Scandinavian decorations called Julehjerter, frequently used on Christmas trees (as the name suggests). They can also be used for gift baskets, and we reckon they'll be great with chocolates in too!

Here's some Jayne made earlier

Bring along any old, but sturdy, paper you want to use, as well as craft mats, scissors, craft knives, ribbons and other embellishments. We'll have supplies for those who need them!

Please email lwewicraftclub@gmail.com if you plan to come, so we know to expect you; we can only fit 10 in, so need to know numbers in advance. Also email us for more information if you haven't come before and want to know more!

As ever tea, coffee and delicious biscuits will be served.

January Craft Club - What We Made

The first craft club of the year was a week later than normal, as even us keen crafters decided 1st January was a bit much!

This month we had a go at handmade beaded earrings, although a strung necklace and bracelet also sneaked into the makings.

Next month we're back to the first Tuesday of the month, so on Tuesday 5th February we'll be making gift boxes and bags. More details coming soon.
